Magnified

Psalm 138:2 says 'For You have magnified Your Word according to all Your Name.'

What does that mean, exactly?

The Hebrew word translated 'magnified' is gadal, which means to grow, become great or important, promote, make powerful, praise, magnify, do great things.

So that verse means He has made His Word powerful, to do great things, according to all His Name!

The Word is Seed
Jesus told us in Luke 8:11 that the Word of God is seed...we also know from John 1 that Jesus is the Word, and the Word was the seed planted in Mary's womb. When Gabriel told her of God's plan for her, she replied "May it be done to me according to your word."

Anyone who has gone to a Christmas Eve service knows those things. But think about this...in Acts, Luke describes the daily conversions as the Word continuing to grow and be multiplied! Peter confirms this '...for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring Word of God.' [1 Peter 1:23]

1 John 3:9 says His seed abides in us, and we are born of God!

Jesus is the Word, and we are, too! Made powerful, to do great things, according to all His [God's] Name! Hallelujah!
