Strength in Your Mouth

David knew the truth regarding the power of words in the earth, particularly praise in the mouth of a believer...

'From the MOUTH of infants and nursing babes YOU HAVE ESTABLISHED STRENGTH because of Your adversaries, TO MAKE THE ENEMY AND THE REVENGEFUL CEASE.' [Psalm 8:2]

'Let the godly ones exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their beds. Let the high praises of God be in their MOUTH, and a two-edged sword in their hand, to EXECUTE VENGEANCE on the nations And punishment on the peoples, to BIND THEIR KINGS WITH CHAINS and their NOBLES WITH FETTERS OF IRON, to EXECUTE ON THEM THE JUDGMENT WRITTEN; this is an HONOR for all His godly ones. Praise the LORD!' [Psalm 149:5-9]

When Jesus quoted Psalm 8:2, He changed it slightly, providing additional insight:

'And Jesus said to them, "Yes; have you never read, 'Out of the MOUTH of infants and nursing babies you have prepared PRAISE for Yourself?" [Matthew 21:16]

We know from Hebrews 4:12 that the Word is sharper than any two-edged sword. Revelations 1:16 says 'In his right hand He held seven stars, and OUT OF HIS MOUTH came a TWO-EDGED SWORD; and His face was like the sun shining IN STRENGTH.'

Ephesians 6:17 puts it this way: 'And take...the sword of the Spirit, which is the WORD OF GOD.'

The Purpose of Praise
So it is clear that the purpose of praise, particularly praise which contains the Word, is to stop the adversaries and enemies of God in the earth. To execute on them His judgments, to bind kings, nobles and rulers...this is an HONOR for His godly ones!

THIS IS OUR PURPOSE IN THE EARTH!!

God promised Jesus that He would put His enemies under His feet. [Psalm 110:1] His feet are in His Body, and He has put the strength—the power—to bind His enemies IN OUR MOUTHS!

"I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever YOU bind on earth SHALL HAVE BEEN BOUND in heaven, and whatever YOU loose on earth SHALL HAVE BEEN BOUND in heaven." [Matthew 16:19]

"TRULY I say to you, whatever YOU bind on earth SHALL HAVE BEEN BOUND; and whatever YOU loose on earth SHALL HAVE BEEN loosed in heaven." [Matthew 18:18]

Yad...Again
We've seen from Proverbs 18:21 that the POWER of life and death is in the tongue...the Hebrew word for 'power' in this Scripture is yad, or HAND.

Guess what? The word translated 'hand' in Psalm 149:6 is yad as well...

The tongue is a strong hand, both for God and for man, who is created in His image. [Read Yad, The Yad of God, The Yad of God 2]

And what I love about Psalm 8 is that this mighty power is in the MOUTH of babies! We don't have to be fully mature Christians to stop the enemy...this power is available to those born again 5 minutes ago. He made it easy for us to be the overcomers He declared us to be, no matter where we are in our Christian walk.

Consider these Scriptures:

'But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.' [Romans 8:37]

'You are from God, little children, and have overcome them [evil spirits]; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.' 1 John 4:4]

'For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?' [1 John 5:4,5]

It is absolutely the will of God for us to reign in life through the One, Christ Jesus [Romans 5:17] and to dominate Satan in the earth. And the Word of God, released by our mouths in praise is the weapon that will do it, whether you've been a Christian for 5 minutes or 5 decades.

Here's a tip...if you don't know the exact Scripture you need at any one moment, use the Name of Jesus in praise. His Name IS the Word of God! [Revelations 19:13]

Put the Word in your mouth, launch it into the earth through praise. Make the enemy stop right now. It is a God-ordained honor for you.
