Book of Power

I did a word search on the word ‘power’ and found 220 references in the New American Standard version!

The Greek word translated ‘power’ in these scriptures is dunamis…strength, power, ability…power for performing miracles, the power and influence which belong to riches and wealth, power consisting in or resting upon armies, forces, hosts.

Wow.

Then I did it in the KJV and got 260, mostly because they translated the Greek work exousia ‘power’ in the KJV and ‘authority’ in the NASB.

Once you add other words, like ‘might’ or ‘strength’ it becomes very evident that the Word is a book of and about POWER.

Of course, the source of all this power, or authority, or might, or strength, is God Himself.

But in the New Covenant, power has been transferred to the believer—not only power, but all or great power!

‘…that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with POWER through His Spirit in the inner man…’ [Ephesians 3:16]

‘For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,

‘so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

‘strengthened with ALL POWER, according to His glorious might…’ [Colossians 1:9-11]

‘But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the SURPASSING GREATNESS OF THE POWER will be of God and not from ourselves…’ [2 Corinthian 4:7]

‘For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of POWER and love and discipline.’ [2 Timothy 1:7]

You see, we are filled with power because we’re filled with God!

In John 14, Jesus said that He, the Father and the Holy Spirit would all come to reside within us. And the New Covenant clearly teaches in several places that when we receive the sacrifice of Jesus for our lives, we die. Some verses say we were crucified with Him…buried with Him in baptism, raised up and seated with Him in heavenly places! Hallelujah! [Romans 6:6; Galatians 2:20; Ephesians 2:6]

And we are one Spirit with the Lord! An earthen vessel, filled with the power of God.

Think about it.
