Blessed With Abraham The Believer

Galatians 3 says we're blessed with Abraham The Believer. [Galatians 3:9]
What a great title! God has given him the name The Believer because he believed what God said over what the circumstances were screaming. "You're old! She's old! Never going to happen, my friend..."
Of course, it did take him awhile to come around and, like us, he screwed it up royally before finally getting it right.
But his mistakes didn't change his relationship with God. God still sees him, for all eternity, as The Believer! Not The Failure, The Screw Up, The Reason For Our Problems In The Middle East! It's wonderful, and very important, to notice that God did not tack on Abraham's failures here. He just sees the righteousness! Forever! Hallelujah!
Galatians 3: 6 tells us 'Even so Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.'
The word 'reckoned' here is the Greek word logizomai, which is a counting word! It's used to number or compute or account. For example, when you pay a bill, it is reckoned or accounted as paid on your account. Abraham's faith was the payment that God counted as righteousness...right-standing with Him! Verse 11 goes onto to say that no one is justified with God by the law...for the righteous man shall live by faith!
The Greek word for 'live' is zao. It means to enjoy real life; to be active, blessed, endless in the kingdom of God; to be fresh, strong, efficient, active, powerful, in full vigor! It also means living water, having vital power in itself and exerting the same upon the soul! Sounds like a quantum word to me...
I can't help but notice how close the word zao is to another Greek word, zoe, which means the life of God. Hmmm...
Anyway...Blessed
That's great, but the word blessed is one of those vague religious words. We kinda sorta know what it means, but not really. Does it means good things only in Heaven? On earth, too? What is it, exactly?
We really need to know, because we're blessed with Abraham The Believer. And if you read about Him in the book of Genesis, he was really blessed!
The Greek word blessed in Galatians 3:9 is eulogeo...meaning to praise, to invoke blessings, to cause to prosper, to make happy, to bestow blessings on...favored of God, blessed.
Now I can't say this for sure, but in my opinion, the New Testament writers may have been writing in Aramaic, or Greek...but they were thinking in Hebrew! I can't prove it, but I'll just bet Paul was thinking shalom here. Nothing missing, nothing broken, prospering in all areas of life...peace. Blessed.
We know from Ephesians 1 that we are already blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ. We know that we are born again, made the righteousness of God in Christ, seated in Him in heavenly places right now [or at least you know if you've been reading this blog for any time at all...]
But what about here and now?
'...seeing that His diving power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him Who called us by His own gloryr and excellence.' [2 Peter 1:3]
'For as many as are the promises of God, in Him they are yes...[2 Corinthians 1:20]
'...all things belong to you, and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.' [1 Corinthians 3:22,23]
'...Who [God] richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.' [1 Timothy 6:17]
Why do all things belong to us? Every blessing—every good thing, every perfect gift—coming from the Father of Lights. [James 1:17]

Because He the Father of Lights, and we are those Lights! Jesus is the Light of the World, and so are we!
In John 8:12, Jesus says He is the Light of the World. In John 5:14, He tells us that we are the light of the world. Which is it...Him or us?
He explains in John 9:5..."While I am in the world, I am the Light of the World." When He was here, He was it. Now that He's lives in us, we're it! And hiding it under that sunday school bushel, most of us!
It is clear that all things belong to us because we are One with the One by Whom all things were created! [Colossians 1:16]
And not only things, but wisdom and knowledge, too! Colossians 2:3 says that '...in Whom [Jesus] are hidden all the treasures [plural] of wisdom and knowledge.' Read the book of Proverbs...it describes in great details what the treasures of wisdom are. Riches, honor, long life, peace, happiness, health, blessed children! Whoops...back to things!
Since we know that we are One with Him, we know that we have His spiritual attributes as well...Galatians 5 calls it the fruit of the Spirit! Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control!
Now that's blessed!
But Read On...
'Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"—in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
'For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek [non-covenanted], there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's descendants, heirs according to promise.' [Galatians 3:26-29]
Do you know that when Jesus was born into the earth, He was described as the '...only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.' [John 1:14]

John 3:16 calls Him the only begotten Son!
But here, in Galatians 3, we are called the Sons of God, neither male nor female...just God inside! Hallelujah!
I realize this is a bit of a digression [surprise, surprise] but it's good...I promise.
The Greek word for begotten in the scriptures about Jesus is monogenes—only child. I am an only child, so I would be the monogenes of my parents. Jesus is called the only child of God.
But wait...throughout the New Testament we are called the children of God—sons and daughters, fellow heirs with Christ! Jesus becomes an older brother! No longer an only child, but an older brother! What gives?
This is really going to bake your brain...remember that we are all One with Him! Technically, He's still monogenes, just spread out a lot, poured into a lot of temples. [1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19]
Romans 5:5 says that the Love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who was given us! God is love!
The Word [singular] multiplied! [Acts 12:24] One Spirit with the Lord! [1 Corinthians 6:17]
We are the Body [singular] of Christ!
Great! We're Blessed!
Abraham was blessed of God, both physically, in the earth, as well as spiritually. His faith was reckoned, or counted, as righteousness, or right-standing with God.
And we now know that, as His descendants, so are we.
But we are more than just blessed. Not only blessed, but full of God, The Blesser! Why?
So we can administrate the Kingdom on the earth. We are called to reign in life...not only for ourselves, but for others. Called to be the Blesser in the earth!
Yes, we are blessed because we are One with Him and everything He has we have. But that frees us up to bless others! Heal the sick, raise the dead, provide materially, encourage the exhausted.
When Jesus walked the earth in His physical body, He showed people The Blesser. He was the Blesser in the earth, One with the Father.
And now we are One with Him, The Blesser, in the earth! Blessed of God to bless the world. Blessed of God so that we may do the same works He did, and greater works, because He went to the Father. [John 14:12]
Be blessed, because the Word says you are. Be the Blesser, because that's who you are in the earth. The Forever Settled Word multiplied. [starting to jump up and down...]
Back to 2 Peter 1. How is grace and peace multiplied to us? How does His Divine power grant us everything pertaining to life and godliness? BY HIS PRECIOUS AND MAGNIFICENT PROMISES!
Why? SO THAT BY THEM WE MAY BECOME PARTAKERS OF THE DIVINE NATURE!! [Sorry to scream, but I can't help myself...]
His promises...His Word...are full of His Divine nature. He is the Father of lights, with Whom there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. In other words, He is dependable, reliable, to be the Blesser!
And by His Word we have partaken of His nature. Hallelujah to Jesus forever!!
