The God of Hope

'Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.' [Romans 15:13]

This is a wonderful verse that shows us not only a facet of God's character but also His will for us.

In this verse, He is called the God of Hope. The Greek word Theos means the Trinity as a whole as well as each individual member: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

This is a Holy Spirit inspired prayer! He is calling Himself the God of Hope, and praying for you that He fill you--to make full, to cause to abound, to supply liberally, to make complete, to fill to the top, nothing wanting--with ALL joy and peace IN BELIEVING. Why? So that we will abound in hope by the POWER of the Holy Spirit!

The Greek word for power here is dunamis--strength, power, ability--the power for performing miracles!

This is a dynamic, powerful prayer! He is the God of Hope, Himself praying that He fill us up to the brim with ALL joy and peace in believing, so that we will abound--overflow, excel, be furnished richly so as to have abundance--in hope by the miracle-working power of the Holy Spirit.

All joy and peace in believing--the power of hope, from the God of Hope! Hallelujah!
