What Are The Giants Saying To You?

You know the story...Moses sent 12 spies in to reconnoiter the Promised Land [read Numbers 13:1-14:38]. They came back with samples of the fruit of the land and reported that, yes, the land did indeed flow with milk and honey. God's word was true!
But 10 of the spies explained that while it was everything God said it would be, there were powerful, strong people there, living in large, fortified cities. These were the sons of Anak, part of the Nephilim, which is the Hebrew word for giants.
We know that the other 2 spies, Joshua and Caleb, held out for God. Their report was "We should by all means go up and take possession of it, for we will surely overcome it." [Numbers 13:30]
Read the response from the 10 negative spies:
"We are not able to go up against the people, for they are too strong for us...The land through which we have gone, in spying it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants; and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great size. There also we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak are part of the Nephilim); and we became like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight." [Numbers 13:31-33]
Instead of looking at the unseen, the promises of God for them to possess this wonderful land, these 10 were 'being realistic.' They looked not only at the physical evidence—big people, strong cities—but they were looking at the deceptions of the enemy, as well. They were looking at the unseen, all right...just the wrong unseen!
Did they actually see the land devouring its inhabitants? Did they actually see or know that the Nephilim saw them as grasshoppers?
This is what Romans 1:21 calls futile speculations, or in the KJV, vain imaginations. I've got news for you...we are always seeing the unseen, because that's how we are designed. We are built to live both in the natural and the spiritual realms, like Adam, like Jesus—our imagination is the eyes of the heart. [Ephesians 1:18]
They did get one thing right. They looked at the natural, physical circumstance and became like grasshoppers in their own sight. This is the point of view from which they then viewed everything else—the point of reference from which they came to the conclusion that they could not take the land, no matter what God said.
As we read on into Numbers 14, we see a couple of very interesting things. First, with the exception of Moses and Aaron, the whole camp sided with the naysayers. What a great snapshot of human nature! These are the ancestors of those who, in years to come, would persecute and kill the prophets of God! And we see this today, particularly in our news media. Believe the worst, at all times, of everyone.
Second, we see the men of faith, Joshua and Caleb, standing strong.
'"The land which we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. If the Lord is pleased with us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us—a land which flows with milk and honey.
"Only do not rebel against the Lord; and do not fear the people of the land, for they will be our prey. THEIR PROTECTION HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THEM, and the Lord is with us; do not fear them."
'But all the congregation said to stone them with stones.' [Numbers 14: 7-10]
The amazing thing is that these people had just seen the supernatural power of God deliver them from slavery, open the Red Sea so that they could flee their enemies and destroy the most powerful army in the world! This was before they wandered in the wilderness for 40 years! They saw the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night, protecting their camp from the Egyptians! They saw the favor of God upon them to plunder their former masters before they left Egypt!
What Happened Here?
These 10 men focused on the seen—the physical circumstance—and let their imaginations run wild. Instead of using this powerful ability to 'see' the promise of God, they used it to 'see' impending doom—their inevitable defeat.
And they listened to the enemy of God, the whisperer, the deceiver, whose only job is to kill, steal and destroy. [John 10:10]
An aside...
I think, and this is just my opinion, that anytime you see a mob picking up stones to kill someone, that satan is probably behind it. I believe he is the father of mob mentality, wherever you see it. An angry mob tried to kill the woman caught in adultery, and twice tried to kill Jesus. Angry mobs stoned Paul and Steven...seems like a clear pattern to me. Look at old videos of Nazis storming Jewish ghettos, or of KKK lynch mobs. Satan is the father of the murderous mob, no matter what they claim to stand for.
Okay, I'm back...
How Does This Relate To Me?
We are in exactly the same position as the 12 spies. God has given us His precious promise so that we may become partakers of the Divine nature [2 Peter 1:4]. And we know, from 1 Corinthians 1:20, that 'For as many as are the promises of God, in Him they are yes; therefore also through Him is our Amen [so be it] to the glory of God through us.'
Like the Israelites, we have wonderful promises from God—promises of salvation, of the indwelling Trinity, of being strengthened with all power in our inner man, of healing and wealth and angelic protection. Promises for our children, of long life and honor.
But instead of standing for these promises and refusing to be denied—instead of 'seeing' them fulfilled in our lives like Joshua and Caleb did, most of us side with the 'realistic' crowd. You know the ones...the naysayers, the ones who urge us to be 'reasonable' and look at the obvious. The ones who declare us to be 'in denial' if we don't 'wake up and smell the coffee.' Or, my personal favorite, the ones being 'logical,' as if faith was only for the uneducated, intellectually stunted or just plain stupid.
Most of us focus on the seen, which 2 Corinthians 4:18 tells us is temporal—passing, temporary. Of course, the deceiver is right there, whispering that the promise is not for you, or the answer might be no, or maybe God wants to keep you in this bad situation to teach you something, or some other lie straight from hell or church!
The truth is that God's Word is settled forever and His works were finished from the foundation of the world! [Psalm 119:89, Hebrews 4:3]
The seen is temporary—subject to change! And what will change these temporary circumstances? The eternal, settled forever Word of the Living God, dwelling in you—alive in your imagination and coming out of your mouth!
The Heart-Mouth Connection
Romans 10:10 says that with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness—a spiritual state of being—and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. Salvation, or soteria in the Greek, means both spiritual and temporal redemption. Salvation in the spirit and on the earth...deliverance from the molestation of enemies! And we don't have any enemies in heaven, so guess what? It means right here, right now, delivered from the molestation of enemies!
In James 3, the tongue is compared to the rudder of a ship, or the bit in a horse's mouth. If you want to change the direction of your life, do it with the rudder...your tongue!
Deuteronomy 30:14 puts it this way:
'But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may observe it.'
God then goes on to say that He has set before us life and prosperity, and death and adversity...so choose life! Choose it how? With your mouth!
Let's look at some additional scriptures...
'Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.' [Psalm 19:14]
'My mouth will speak wisdom, and the mediation of my heart will be understanding.' [Psalm 49:3]
'The heart of the wise instructs his mouth...' [Proverbs 16:23]
"...For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart." [Matthew 12:34]"
"But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man." [Matthew 15:18]
"The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart. [Luke 6"45]
'...that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved...' [Romans 10:9]
"Have faith in God. Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him." [Mark 11:22,23]
Obviously, there is a connection between the heart and the mouth. And we are told to see the unseen, with the eyes of the heart.
This is exactly what Joshua and Caleb did. They 'saw' the promise of God, and said "We are well able to take the land!" They didn't listen to the giants or to the deceiver...they listened to God! They took Him at His word! And they were the only 2 men of the 12 spies that eventually got to go into the Promised Land!
Don't Do It
So don't do it. Don't listen to the giants at the edge of your promised land. Jesus told us that out of the heart, the mouth speaks. See the fulfilled promise of God with the eyes of your heart, and when your heart is fully convinced, speak it with your mouth.
Another aside...
It's my personal opinion that the giants, or seemingly insurmountable obstacles, are always positioned at the border of the promised land, whatever that is. There weren't any giants keeping the Israelites out of the wilderness...they were stationed strategically at the entrance into God's best and wonderful will for them. So it is with us. If the circumstances seem overwhelming and are in direct contradiction to the Word of God, you know you've got giants. Treat them like vermin...squash them!
Here's another clue—if you're hearing 'You can't do it, it's not going to happen, what are you going to do, it's not going to work...' you've got giants! Spray them with the Word of God!
Ok, back to the topic...
Job 22:28 says to decree a thing and it will be established for you. Jesus told us to speak to the physical world and it would obey and then He demonstrated it! [Mark 11:22-24] You have the faith of God because He's the only Spirit in there! If you died with Christ, He is reborn in your earthen vessel, and the Father and the Holy Spirit dwell there with Him [John 14].
Don't do it. Don't spend your time looking at circumstances and imaging the worst. Look at the forever settled Word of God and imagine the best! Imagine the impossible, because the God of the Red Sea lives in you! You've been strengthened with all power in your inner man. [Colossians 1:11] See the unseen and speak to your circumstances. You're rooted and grounded in love and filled up to all the fulness of God! He is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us! [Ephesians 3:17-21]
You are well able to take the land!

God Isn't Holding Back 2

It is, in fact, our unity with God that assures us of the power and blessing of Him.
It isn't that God has made wild, hard-to-believe promises in the Word and sometimes we get lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time to get them. Or that some people drew the lucky ticket in life and others didn't. Or worse...it is GOD'S WILL that some are blessed and others are not. And last but not least, the dreaded GOD IS TEACHING YOU SOMETHING THROUGH CANCER OR BY KILLING YOUR CHILD OR BY BLOWING YOU HOUSE OVER WITH A TORNADO OR BURNING YOUR CHURCH TO THE GROUND.
Why would God be out burning down churches? Why would He be doing things that, as a man, would get Him sent to jail or, in Texas, executed? HE'S NOT OUT KILLING CHRISTIANS OR THEIR CHILDREN!!!
[sorry for shouting]
Unity
Listen to Jesus in John 17:
"The glory which You have given Me I have given them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me."
Not only are we one Spirit with the Lord, but we're one with each other! We are all part of God, and He is part of us...we are the physical Body of Christ in the earth!
I understand that these things are tough to accept after religious and cultural brainwashing, but the Church will never arise to her appointed place of reigning in the earth unless we understand who we truly are.
Sin Nature
A friend of mine mentioned our 'sin nature' and I casually replied that we didn't have one—that we were new creatures in Christ, the old had passed away and all things were new. I think I might've said something like 'By His doing we are in Christ Jesus, who became to us righteousness...' [1 Corinthians 1:30].
She became so incensed that I would hint at such blasphemy...even after I pointed out that our old man was crucified with Him, buried and raised up with Him and seated with Him in heavenly places, she wasn't having any.
It made me sad. Sad, because I knew that the majority of my brothers and sisters have no idea who they are in Christ. They don't realize that they've been born of the incorruptible or imperishable seed that is the Word of God [1 Peter 1:23] and that the Word calls us saints—Holy Ones!
Unfortunately, these widespread deceptions are crippling us, prohibiting us from doing our job in the earth.
Precious and Magnificent Promises
2 Peter 1:2-4 states:
'Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; seeing that HIs divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these [or through which] He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, have escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.'
Goodness, is that verse really in the Bible? Everything pertaining to life on the earth and godliness as well? Partakers of the Divine Nature? Huh?
Yep, it's in there. As the saying goes, read 'em and weep!
Weep, because we've been deceived, robbed of our rightful inheritance, of the knowledge of our unity with God and with each other. Robbed of our power—the Holy Spirit Himself actually prayed that we be strengthened with ALL POWER according to HIS glorious might [Colossians 1:11].
Robbed of our calling to reign in life through the One, Christ Jesus [Romans 5:17] and to administer His Kingdom on the earth [Ephesians 1:10]
What are those promises? How about all things are possible to him who believes? Nothing shall be impossible to you? All things belong to you, and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God? All the promises of God are yes in Him? Ask anything in My name and it will be done for you by My Father? Etc, etc, etc.
When we see ourselves as separate from Him, when in our minds He is 'up there' and we are 'down here' those promises seem pretty unattainable, especially when everyone is telling us it might not work.
Only when we see that, by His promises, we have partaken of the Divine Nature, full of love, full of power, having this treasure in earthen vessels, will we be able to lay aside the sin that so easily beset us and run the race before us. When we realize that there is a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us—cheering us on, not tripping us or trying to kill us—we can start to fulfill the work of proving what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfects [Romans 12:2]
He's Not Holding Back, Really
Jesus said the thief comes only to kill, steal and destroy...but He came to give us abundant life. [John 10:10] Some versions translate that phrase as 'He came to give us abundance.'
Jesus knew that we would be like Him. 1 John 4:17 says '...as He is, so are we in this world.'
He knew that we would be One with Him and with the Father, by the indwelling Holy Spirit. He knew that all things belonged to Him, and that they would belong to us, as well. He knew that we would be born of God, just like He was, and that we would overcome evil spirits, because greater is He Who is in us than he who is in the world [I John 4:4]
The reason The Father isn't holding back is that He's filled us with Himself. And He cannot withhold from Himself. Hallelujah!
Paradigm Shift
Time for a new way of thinking. Time to be truly humble, in the Biblical sense, and believe what God says about us. To believe Him and His Word over doctrines and television lies. To mediate on the beauty of His holiness and realize that He calls us holy, because we are One with Him.
And that's why all things are possible for us!

God Isn't Holding Back

"I do not withhold from Myself, and you are One with Me."

I was praying and heard this very clearly. I know, from multiple scriptures discussed in this blog over the last months that this is true, from a biblical point of view.

However, hearing it from the Father Himself opened up a new layer of reality. I can see now that any hint of lack or failure of any kind, any implication that He might be holding back blessings for any reason at all, is a lie. It might be subtle or shouting in my face, but it's still a lie.

This is a tough belief to accept, because we've been so thoroughly brainwashed by religion and culture alike to believe otherwise. Even though we know that all things already belong to us [see All Things]...and that's hard enough to really wrap our minds around...this is another level altogether. This is why all things belong to us!

Outside or Inside?
As the race of man, we all tend to believe that God, or gods, as the case may be, are 'out there' or 'up there' or in a temple or on a shelf somewhere. New Agers claim that they are gods and are vilified for it.

Why is that?

I believe, and this is just my opinion, that it is because after Adam and Eve severed their relationship with Him, God was only out there. For millennia, God was indeed separate from man, and could be found only through specific visitations or in the Holy of Holies in Jerusalem. For those who worshipped idols or other kinds of gods, they were always in a specific place—a temple, a tree, a household idol, Mt. Olympus, etc.

But the whole point of sending Jesus was to create a new race of beings—He was the Last Adam [1 Corinthians 15:45] and the Firstborn of Many Brethren [Romans 8;29]. He was to bring many sons (offspring of man) to glory [Hebrews 2 :10]. We suffered and died with Him, were buried with Him and raised up together with Him—we are One Spirit with the Lord! We dwell in two quantum universes...on the earth and in heavenly places. We've already come to Mt. Zion—to the city of the Living God, the Heavenly Jerusalem! [Hebrews 12:22]

God's will was to rectify the separation created by the Fall. When He first breathed Himself into Adam, His plan was to be One with His child. When that fell apart, He sent Another to create sons and daughters that were One with Him—full of His Spirit, filled up to all the fullness of God. [Ephesians 3:19]

I Peter 2:9 says 'But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR GOD'S OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light...' We are the Word multiplied in the earth!

Remember...
So remember, next time you start to fall for the party line that God is withholding [fill in the blank] for [whatever reason], IT'S A LIE!! He doesn't not withhold from Himself...or His Word.
"But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one Spirit with Him." [1 Corinthians 6:17]
"For all things belong to you; whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or dath or things present or things to come; all things belong to you, and you belong to Christ; and Christ belongs to God." [1 Corinthians 3:20-23]
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." [John 1:1]
"The Word of the Lord continued to grow and to be multiplied." [Acts 12:24]
"So the Word of the Lord was growing mightily and prevailing." [Acts 19:20]
Hallelujah!

Think Like Jesus

I woke up in the middle of the night, heart pounding, mind racing, filled with anxiety—and I heard “You’re thinking like Margot, not like Jesus. You need to think like Jesus—Margot is dead.”

I sat straight up...how did Jesus think?

He thinks that all things are possible to him who believes. [Mark 9:23]

He thinks that, if we ask the Father anything in His name, He will do it. [John 14:13,14]

He thinks that all things belong to us, and we belong to Him, and He belongs to God. [1 Corinthians 3:21-23]

He thinks that, when you speak to mountains, trees, wind, money, bodies, etc, they will obey you. [Mark 11:22-24; all 4 gospels]

He thinks that the Father loves us as much as He loves Him, that He has given us His glory—the glory that the Father gave Him! [John 17:22,23]

He thinks that we're One Spirit with Him. [1 Corinthians 6:17]

These are all scriptures! This is the mind of Christ! And I was crucified, buried, raised up and seated in heavenly places with Him. And He and the Father dwell in me by the Holy Spirit!

So now, when I start to worry or fret, I remind myself that I’m thinking like a dead person...and I tell myself to think like Jesus!

The Purpose of Fear 4

"No one can stop you but you." [Bill Winston]

The spirit of fear is sent to get you to stop in your tracks, period. It is sent to create doubt and unbelief to stop your faith from producing.

'For who provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses? And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient?

So we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.' [Hebrews 3:16-4:2]

And why were they in unbelief, which ultimately led to disobedience and NOT entering into His rest? Because they were terrified by the giants stationed at the edge of their Promised Land. Fear. Even though God had promised them victory, their fear stopped them cold.

Fear > Unbelief > Disobedience > Wilderness [the UN-promised land]

It is sent to bring the thing you fear upon you [Job 3:25]. The Israelites feared that they would die in the desert [Exodus 14] and die they did, just as they had believed and spoken.

Don't Look
Don't look at the circumstances. Don't listen to the voice of the deceiver. In the words of David Crosby, don't give in an inch to fear.

Instead, unite the Word of God with faith and enter into His rest [Hebrews 4]. For all of the promises of God are YES in Him. [2 Corinthians 1:20]

The Purpose of Fear 3

Read FearThe Purpose of FearThe Purpose of Fear 2

We are told to look at the eternal unseen and not the temporary seen! [2 Corinthians 4:18]

While faith shows us the unseen will of God, fear shows us the evil unseen. Fear whispers a word to us and we immediately see the evil coming to pass.

I've heard many people, myself included, say "I just have trouble visualizing."

With a little further investigation, we see that what they [I] really mean is that we have trouble visualizing good things coming to pass in our lives.

Which is really a problem, because Bible hope is the earnest expectation that God's promises are true and will come to pass...and faith is the SUBSTANCE of THINGS HOPED FOR! The conviction or evidence of THINGS NOT SEEN!!

I'm going to repeat that...faith is the SUBSTANCE of things HOPED for...evidence of things NOT SEEN!

Since fear is faith's evil twin and what we fear befalls us, it stands to reason that fear is also the substance of things feared, the evidence of bad things not seen!

People, Satan KNOWS how things really work! That's one of the reasons he's deceived us into 'thinking rationally, thinking logically.' Because worldly wisdom—natural rationality—denies the supernatural completely and cripples us from walking in its power.

Eternal
2 Corinthians 4:18 says '...for the things which are seen are temporal [temporary], but the things which are not seen are eternal.

The Greek word for eternal here is aionios—without beginning and end, THAT WHICH ALWAYS HAS BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE, never to cease, everlasting.

In the church world, we tend to think of eternal as meaning after we die...but that's not what it means! When we read that God's Word is settled forever in heaven, it means it is settled eternally...without beginning or end, that which always has been and always will be!

It is finished...what? The works of God, from the FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD! [Hebrews 4:3] If we could pull back the veil and see into the spirit, we would see God's forever settled Word!

And God tells us clearly to look at that, not the temporary circumstance. So we must be able to do so... [Read That Which Has Been Will Be...]

Get that...His Word is, was and shall be settled eternally...without beginning or end, and all of the promises of God are YES in Jesus! And '...BY HIS DOING you are IN Christ Jesus, Who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption...'

But I Digress...
So we see that the things unseen by the natural eye are eternal and we are told to look at them...Jesus taught us to pray 'Your will be done ON EARTH as it is IN HEAVEN.'

Faith sees the promises of God as settled forever and speaks them into the earth. Fear sees the lies of the devil, and, if spoken into the earth, will come to pass as well.

That's the whole point!

Finally, Brethren...
'...whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.' [Philippians 4:8]

The Word of God is true...everything else a lie. Whispered anxieties and visions of tragedy are LIES, but if we meditate on it, our natural faith mechanism kicks into gear and we begin to draw it to us.

Why? Because THAT'S HOW THINGS WORK, THAT'S HOW WE ARE MADE!!

So instead, meditate on the promises of God—'For as many as are the promises of God, in Him they are YES; therefore also through Him is our AMEN [so be it] to the GLORY OF GOD through us.' [2 Corinthians 1:20]

Read the Word aloud, close your eyes and see it coming to pass in your own life

Don't let fear fulfill its purpose of bringing evil into your life. Instead, let faith do what it was designed to do...to bring the blessings of God into your life.

The Purpose of Fear 2

'When my ANXIOUS THOUGHTS multiply within me, your consolations delight my soul. Can a THRONE OF DESTRUCTION be allied with You, one which DEVISES MISCHIEF BY DECREE? They band themselves together against the life of the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.
But the LORD has been my stronghold, and my God the rock of my refuge. He has brought back their wickedness upon them and will destroy them in their evil; the LORD our God will destroy them.' [Psalms 94:19-23]
This wonderful passage shows us what's really going on in the spiritual realm.
Anxious, tormenting thoughts come from without, not from within! Evil spirits have pirated thrones of authority that were made by and for Jesus—consider Colossians 1:16...
'For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.'
We've seen, in Job 4, how the spirit of fear comes and whispers lies and deceptions. Now we understand that these spirits are devising mischief BY DECREE! They are decreeing destruction against us from these positions of stolen authority, and these decrees cause anxiety, or fear.
Why? Because Satan knows how things really work! He knows that what we believe and speak will come to pass...faith in God brings His Word to pass in our lives, and conversely, what we fear befalls us!
So these spirits of fear, of death and destruction, are banding themselves together against us.
The Good News
But the good news is really great! Jesus has stripped them of their power!
'When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He MADE YOU ALIVE TOGETHER WITH HIM, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. When He had DISARMED the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having TRIUMPHED over them through Him.' [Colossians 2:13-15]
And we know that it is His will that we walk in this triumph, because 2 Corinthians 2:14 tells us...
'But thanks be to God, who ALWAYS leads us in TRIUMPH in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place.'
Hallelujah! It is His will that we reign in life through the One, Christ Jesus! [Romans 5:17, Revelation 5:10]
And we know that His will is settled forever [Psalm 119:89] and that He has rested from His works! [Hebrews 4:3,10]
Plus, we know that we are surrounded by songs or shouts of deliverance [Psalm 32:7] AND that the Blood of Jesus is speaking for us in the heavenly Holy of Holies! [Hebrew 12:23] Psalm 34:7 says 'The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear—revere, godly fear or awe—Him, and rescues them.'
I guess there's a lot going on around us...
Why Do We Need To Know This?
Why is it important to know these things?
First, the Word tells us that the truth will make us free. [John 8:32]
The Word is our only rock...it is the only place where we can discern what is of God and what are lies and deceptions of the enemy.
The enemy knows that fear will draw its object to us, so he knows if he can get us to fear he can bring his will upon us...and using doctrinal error and heresies, he can get us to blame God at the same time! Evil will befall us, we'll blame God, and we'll tell everyone we know about it, destroying not only our faith but the faith of all who hear it.
I don't care if the lies come straight from the pulpit—anyone who hears that God has 'taken' a child has, from that point forward, less faith for the protection of their own loved ones.
We will have faith in something, because we are faith creations, made in the likeness of a faith God. He created the universe by faith, and He gave us power in the earth to create our lives through faith. And we know from the story of the Tower of Babel that this is true of all men and women, not just the re-born.
God's way of doing everything is by faith, and we, like all mankind, are created in His image. Then, when we are born again, we are born of the imperishable seed, which is the living and enduring word of God! [1 Peter 1:23]
The Deceiver
Satan is called a thief [John 10:10] and the deceiver [2 John 7]. If he can get you to take the fear, and believe that it is from within your soul, he's home free!
The truth is that God has NOT given us a spirit of fear [2 Timothy] and we know that the spirit of fear comes from outside of us to torment us with anxious thoughts. Its purpose is clear...what we fear befalls us [Job 3:25].
Jesus told us plainly that "The thief comes ONLY to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly—have abundance." [John 10:10, NASB reference]
But praise God...1 John 3:8 says 'The Son of God appeared for this purpose, TO DESTROY THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL.'
Hallelujah!
Try To Remember
So try to remember, when fear or anxiety comes upon you, these things:
1. Fear is a spirit, coming from outside of you. It does not belong to you and is not from God.
2. We have been RESCUED from the domain—the authority—of DARKNESS, and TRANSFERRED to the KINGDOM OF HIS BELOVED SON. You've had a supernatural transfer, and you don't answer to your old boss anymore!
3. Satan has been defeated—disarmed—and made a public display of!
4. We have been given authority over ALL HIS POWER! [Luke 10:19]
5. Psalm 91:10,13 says 'NO EVIL WILL BEFALL YOU...' and 'You will tread upon the lion and cobra, the young lion and the serpent YOU WILL TRAMPLE DOWN.'
6. Angels have been assigned to protect you and render service for your sake, according to Psalm 91 and Hebrews 1. How do you activate this protection? By saying!
'I WILL SAY to the Lord, "My refuge and my fortress, My God, in Whom I trust!"
'For YOU HAVE MADE the Lord, my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place.
"He will CALL upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With a long life I will satisfy him and let him see My salvation."' [Psalm 91:2,9,15-16]
Say what God says! Defeat the tormenter the same way Jesus did, when He was tempted...IT IS WRITTEN! IT IS WRITTEN! IT IS WRITTEN!
And don't believe the lies.

The Purpose of Fear

We know that God is NOT the author of fear. Consider these scriptures...
'For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!"' [Romans 8:15
'For God has not given us a spirit of timidity—fearfulness, cowardice—but of power and love and discipline. [2 Timothy 1:7]
'There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.' [1 John 4:18]
'"Now a word was brought to me stealthily, and my ear received a whisper of it. Amid disquieting thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, dread came upon me, and trembling, and made all my bones shake. Then a spirit passed by my face; the hair of my flesh bristled up. It stood still, but I could not discern its appearance; a form was before my eyes; there was silence, then I heard a voice: 'Can mankind be just before God? Can a man be pure before hisMaker? He puts no trust even in His servants; and against His angels He charges error. How much more those who dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed before the moth! Between morning and evening they are broken in pieces; unobserved, they perish forever. Is not their tent-cord plucked up within them? They die, yet without wisdom.'" [Job 4:12-21]
'When you lie down, you will not be afraid; When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of sudden fear nor of the onslaught of the wicked when it comes; for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.' [Proverbs 3:24-26]
I find Job's description so accurate—everyone can relate to the feelings he describes so well! We clearly see from these passages that fear is a spirit, and NOT from God!
So what, then, is the purpose of fear?
Natural reasoning tells us that fear is good—it warns us of impending trouble, or of situations that may be dangerous.
But this is not based on the Word. We are told, from Genesis to Revelation, that it is God Who desires to guide us, to lead us into all the truth, to show us things to come. Fear is not our guide, or our teacher.
Faith vs. Fear
We have seen, in many articles on this blog, that faith is God's MO—His way of accomplishing things—and Jesus told us plainly that faith is how we are to operate in the earth, too.
If faith is the assurance—the substance, real being, actual existence—of things hoped for, the conviction of things NOT SEEN, it stands to reason that fear is faith's evil twin. It is the assurance, the substance, of darkness—of anything that is directly opposite of God's Word.
'"For what I fear comes upon me, and what I dread befalls me."' [Job 3:25]
'What the wicked fears will come upon him, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.' [Proverbs 10:24]
Faith or fear, both spiritual forces, cause resultant effects in the natural world. Faith in the promises of God bring those to pass in our lives—so, too, does fear bring what we fear to pass.
Therefore, if fear is a spirit not from God and brings the object of our fear to pass in our lives, it stands to reason that fear is Satan's MO. As described in Job, fear comes and whispers lies to us...if we react in fear, it will befall us.
Fear is Satan's way of bringing evil into our lives, just as faith brings God's promises to pass.
So What Do We Do?
If we can truly grasp the nature and purpose of fear, we can resist it! If we know and understand that it's soles purpose is to bring destruction into our lives, we can stand against it in the power of the Name of Jesus and His Blood.
We've got lots of great Scriptures to help us...
'You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.' [1 John 4:4]
'For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.' [1 John 5:4]
'For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.' [Romans 5:17]
'But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer throughHim who loved us.' [Romans 8:37]
'But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place.' [2 Corinthians 2:14]
'And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.' [Revelation 12:11]
We are called to reign in life, walk by faith, and overcome the evil one. That is our calling. And while Satan has his own agenda—to prove that he is greater than the God within—we can and should overcome him.
In the words of David Crosby, don't give in an inch to fear!

Fear

Fear is a spirit. You think it's an emotion, but it's actually a spirit. Listen to Job 4:12-16 describe it perfectly:

'Now a word was brought to me stealthily, and my ear received a whisper of it. Amid disquieting thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, dread came upon me, and trembling, and made all my bones shake. Then a spirit passed by my face; the hair of my flesh bristled up. It stood still but I could not discern its appearance; a form was before my eyes; there was silence, then I heard a voice...'

2 Timothy 1:7 tells us that God has not given us a spirit of timidity—fearfulness, cowardice, fear—but of power, love and discipline. Hallelujah! Our reborn spirit is one of power, love and discipline!!

Think about this...if fear is a spirit, what is it's purpose? To deceive us into stopping or changing our direction. Why? Because wherever that spirit is standing to bring fear and dread is the the edge of your promised land.

Remember the giants in Numbers 13? Right at the edge of fulfilled blessing! And the spies said '...we became like grasshoppers in our OWN sight, and so we were in their sight.' Not the other way around! They became afraid and felt small and defenseless—and that's how the giants saw them! They demonstrated Proverbs 23:7...'For as he thinks within himself, so is he.'

Isn't that true in every situation? How we think and talk about ourselves shapes the way others see us? Doesn't every sales and success program focus on changing the inner image to create new and better circumstances?

A Clue
Look at it this way...it's a clue.

Wherever fear manifests itself in you life, you know you're on the brink of fulfilled blessing in that area. God has already blessed you—spirits of fear are there to deceive you into believing otherwise, to keep you from walking in the fullness of abundant life.

Romans 12:2 tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, that we may PROVE what the will of God is, that which is GOOD and ACCEPTABLE and PERFECT. If we are deceived we cannot prove how wonderful His will is, and that is the whole point.

So, if you're afraid of money issues, know for a certainty that you are already rich...if you're afraid of public speaking, know that you will have tremendous success in speaking. If you're afraid you're not going to get your healing, know for sure that you are already healed and that the spirit of fear is trying to make you believe otherwise.

Because faith, or belief, is how we access the things freely given to use by God.

This is the first in a series of articles on fear...

Made

Everyone knows what a 'made man' is in Mafia lore. [Yes, I confess a certain weakness for gangster movies...I repent]

When a man is 'made' in Mafia circles, he enters into the full rights and privileges of the 'Family.' Interestingly, it is a ceremony of blood covenant, and only 'made' men can rule within the family.

Hmm...

Consider how God looks at the concept of 'made'...

'...(as it is written, "A Father of many nations have I MADE you”) in the presence of Him whom he believed, even God, who gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist.' [Romans 4:17]

God changed Abram's name to Abraham—The Father of Many Nations—before Isaac was born! "A Father of many nations have I MADE you!"

God decrees things.

"...declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things which have not been done, saying, 'My purpose will be established, and I will accomplish all My good pleasure'" [Isaiah 46:10]

This is God's MO—how He does things. He created the heavens and the earth by decree, He created man by decree. [Genesis 1, 2]

Yad, Again...
The Hebrew word ‘yad’ is translated several ways: hand, power, strength...when you research how it is used in the Old Testament, it is obvious that it is the powerful, strong hand which accomplishes things in the earth. The power [yad, or hand] of life and death is in the tongue [Proverbs 18:21], which could alternately be translated ‘Death and life is in the hand of the tongue…’ [Read Yad, The Yad of God, The Yad of God 2 ]

God 'makes' things by His words and by blood covenants.

We're Made!
Guess what? We've been MADE things, too.

'But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, MADE us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved ), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus...' [Ephesians 2:4-6]

'...so that being justified by His grace we would be MADE heirs according to the hope of eternal life.' [Titus 3:7]

'...to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous MADE perfect...' [Hebrews 12:23]

'For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be MADE righteous.' [Romans 5:19]

'But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is MADE unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption...' [1 Corinthians 1:30 KJV]

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be MADE the righteousness of God in him.' [2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV]

And we know it worked, because He calls us saints. The Greek word is hagios…most holy ones! Not sinners, but those MADE the righteousness of God in Christ. Hallelujah!

Made like Him, made to reign in life.

Made.
